Council Geographic Information Systems
GIS at the Metropolitan Council
The GIS department at the Metropolitan Council supports the Council's planning, transit and environmental services
activities through the use of Geographic Information System technology. In addition, the department works very
closely with MetroGIS to facilitate the sharing of geospatial data among government agencies within the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.
Access GIS Data for the Metro
The Metropolitan Council's GIS Department creates and processes geospatial data for use by Council GIS users and for use in Council printed maps, web services and other products.
All of the geospatial data sets that the Council distributes are described on the MetroGIS DataFinder web site: datafinder.org
- The Metropolitan Council distributes some geospatial data sets that require license agreements and/or fees.
